When searching for rates in Xeneta for Air Freight, there are several different weight breaks that can be selected for pricing. When Xeneta receives rate data from our customers, we categorize them into the weight breaks below for price aggregation. All weight breaks refer to chargeable weight for general cargo.
The weight breaks currently available are:
- Less than 45 KG
- 45+ (up to 200) KG
- 200+(up to 500) KG
- 500+(up to 1000) KG
- 1000+ KG
Weight Break Categorization
When receiving rates from our customers, we use the lowest weight within the weight range to categorize it within the weight options above.
For example, we may receive a rate with the weight range 250-500 KG on rate sheet from a customer. Since 250 KG is the lowest weight within the range, we will choose the closest weight break that matches this weight range, which would be 200+ KG. The rate is then calculated into the 200+ KG weight break that is displayed in search results for that trade lane. This is because rates are typically priced on the lowest amount of expected shipment volume throughout the contract.
As another example, a rate in a 2000+ kg weight range would be assigned to the 1000+ KG weight break by Xeneta.

Weight Breaks and Searching
When searching for a rate, it's important to choose the lowest amount of weight you are interested in. If you have an estimate of shipping 70-300 KG on a particular trade lane, it's best for you to choose the weight break in the search options that matches your lowest weight range amount, which is the 45+ KG option in this case.
