Release: November 18, 2019
Carrier Spread in Benchmarks Graph
What is it?
The Carrier Spread add-on has now been integrated into the Benchmarks graph to better help you compare the prices you pay for ocean freight against the market.
Previously, the Carrier Spread only allowed you to view the prices of the largest carriers, but without providing a direct visual comparison to other benchmarks. With this release, the Benchmarks graph can plot your freight rates together with Xeneta market benchmarks and carrier prices, thus offering the best insight into ocean freight rates across the industry.
Carrier Spread is an add-on feature. To find out more, please contact your Customer Success Manager.
Accessing the Carrier Spread
Previously, Carrier Spread used its own tab within the graphs feature of Xeneta:
Now, the Carrier Spread tab has been removed and its features can be found on the Benchmarks tab:
Plotting Market Benchmarks, Your Prices, and Carrier Prices
The usual graphing panel on the right-side of the Benchmarks graph has been expanded to feature a carrier dropdown selector.
Any selected parameter will be plotted on the graph alongside the other parameters:
Note: While carrier prices are plotted on the same graph as port-to-port market benchmarks and your own freight prices, they are always aggregated at a regional level. This means that while carrier prices are not directly comparable to port-to-port market benchmarks, they nonetheless offer a vital insight into how specific carriers price their shipments.
Data Tables
Below the graph are two data tables corresponding to your uploaded prices and the carrier prices. They give a short summary of price changes for the selected date range.
Exporting Data
The export button, which was previously located beside the graph filters at the top of the page, has now been split into two buttons and moved to the data tables below the graph:
- The export button beside the My Prices table will export Xeneta benchmark prices and your uploaded prices for the selected date range
- The export button beside the Carrier Spread table will export the carrier prices for the selected date range
